LHS Student Council wins state-level awards

At the Mississippi State Association of Student Council’s state convention, Laurel High School senior Jessica Thompson and club advisor Tamia Taylor were honored during the awards ceremony. The LHS Student Council’s Making a Difference (M.A.D.) campaign was named Outstanding Project of the Year. Through the M.A.D. campaign, the Laurel High School Student Council hosted guest speakers, workshops, and other promotions to encourage the student body to take a stand against destructive de­cisions while encouraging kindness, gener­osity and self-worth. Thompson, who served as coordinator of the M.A.D. campaign was named MSASC Outstanding Member and placed second in the state speech contest. LHS teacher and Student Council advisor Tamia Taylor was named Advisor of the Year.
